At the bottom of the South Lakes lies Abbey House Hotel & Gardens which is just a short drive from the Heart of the English Lake District. The Hotel takes its name from the neighbouring ruins of one of the greatest Cistercian foundations in the country, Furness Abbey. The Furness Abbey can be found lying behind the trees, at the end of our beautiful grounds.

Abbey House Hotel has been six times winner of the best wedding venue in Cumbria, servicing more than 140 significant events per year. Our wedding service team are highly experienced from the initial enquiry to the event itself, and do their utmost to make sure that your event is one that will truly be remembered.

Abbey House Hotel & Gardens is able to hold your ceremony in perfect surroundings, from the intimacy and originality of the Great Hall to the contemporary style of the Cavendish Suite. The distinctive style of each setting ensures that both traditional & contemporary tastes are catered for.

The Great Hall
Needing little to no decoration, The Great Hall can host up to 100 guests for your formal marriage and 70 seated. Abbotts Bar completes the partnership along with the Red Terrace to create an ideal space for reception drinks and post wedding relaxation areas.

The Cavendish
Those preferring a more contemporary style will opt for the Cavendish Suite. The Cavendish Suite can host weddings for up to 180 guests and has an electric atmosphere for your night time celebrations. Exclusive use for one wedding per day will afford you the luxury of both The Great Hall and The Cavendish Suite for your day and evening celebrations.
